Modular Home Transportation in Ireland
Transportation is a core part of a modular home build — moving a factory-built home from the factory to your site, safely and on schedule. This guide explains how modular home transportation works in Ireland and what's included.
How Modular Home Transportation Works
1. Factory Loading
The completed module(s) are loaded onto a specialist transport truck at the factory — secured, wrapped and ready for the road.
2. The Journey
The truck travels to your site, often with a pilot vehicle for oversized loads. Routes are planned to avoid low bridges, narrow roads and weight restrictions.
3. Site Access
The truck needs to reach your site — a clear route with adequate width, turning space and load-bearing ground.
4. The Crane Lift
A crane lifts the module off the truck and onto the prepared foundation.
Access Requirements
- Width — a clear route wide enough for the truck and module
- Height — no low bridges, tree branches or power lines
- Turning — room for the truck to turn and reverse
- Ground — load-bearing ground for the truck and crane
- Setback — space for the crane to stand and lift
Is Transportation Included?
At New Chapter Homes, transportation is included as standard in our turnkey packages — no surprise delivery costs. We plan the route, arrange the transport and crane, and handle the lift.
What Can Affect Transportation
- Remote or island sites — may need additional logistics
- Narrow lanes — may require road improvements or alternative routes
- Power lines — may need temporary lifting
- Weather — crane lifts need a calm day
We survey all of this before delivery and confirm it's feasible.
